What is happening
The situation in Afghanistan is chaotic and dangerous, now that the Taliban has taken control of Kabul and the country. My office has taken a large number of calls from constituents who have family members in Afghanistan and we understand these are deeply worrying times for many of you.
We have sent over 900 troops to defend the airport and help with the evacuation of British nationals and those Afghan citizens and their families who worked for British Forces and are therefore eligible for relocation. We are sending in our aircraft to airlift those individuals in these groups who have made it to Kabul airport. The Foreign Office and other Civil Service Departments are working around the clock to process those eligible to be evacuated and seek sanctuary in our country.
This is a fast moving, volatile situation and time is of the essence.
This is what you should do
Therefore If you have loved ones in Afghanistan who are either British nationals or have worked for British Forces, and are therefore eligible for relocation, please can you email me the following information:
Your full name
Your full postal address
A contact number
Can you then add their details:
- Full name
- Date of Birth
- Nationality
- Relationship to constituent
- Home Office reference number
- Passport / travel document number
- Have they already obtained a visa
- Do they have a visa application pending (if so, please provide the reference)
- Their contact details if possible
